"Robin Williams Rest IN Peace Make God Laugh" Sarcasm, AFA/Fischer Image From One News Now

"The World Famous Laugh Factory" Taken From American Family Associations' One News Now Web Site  promoted by Bryan Fischer and the Anti-human rights activist Tim Wildmon, 8-21-14.

Robin Williams' suicide, as is every suicide, is a tragically sad thing. My heart hurts to think what Williams' inner life must have been like at the end to drive him to such a terrible decision. My heart aches for those he has left behind – his wife, his children, loved ones and friends. His death has left a hole in their lives that nothing and no one can fill.
RIP Robin WilliamsIn the wake of his suicide, billboards and media pundits alike have been assuming that Robin Williams is now in heaven, making God laugh along with other funny men who left this earth before their time. So is he?
There is one thing we do know and one thing we do not know that can help us think clearly about Robin Williams' eternal destiny....

KKK Anti-Immigration Rally Drowned Out By Counterprotesters

KKK Anti-Immigration Rally Drowned Out By Counterprotesters

A KKK anti-immigration protest in North Carolina was drowned out by several hundred counterprotesters, sending a message that the group's recent foray into the immigration reform battle may not be going as planned.
Between 400 and 500 community members and immigration reform advocates organized a counterprotest across the street from the approximately 100 KKK members in Troy, North Carolina, on Saturday, as reported by the Asheboro Courier-Tribune. The KKK had expected 200 of its members to show up, according to its protest permit.
The counterprotesters told local news outlets that they wanted to send the message that the KKK's extremist rhetoric is not welcome. The protest, originally planned as a rally for the Klansmen to publicize their new "shoot-to-kill" border security policy, became a shouting match between the Klansmen and the counterprotesters.
"Don't come back to Troy, boy!" community members shouted.
"Young people today will not stand for this. When I was a little boy, the KKK coming to town would have put fear in my heart, but not anymore," local resident Donald Loften told the Courier-Tribune. "This country has come so far since those days. Where I work, we all work together every day. It’s a shame and disgrace for society that this hatred can go on, but I guess there will always be that 10 percent who want to hate somebody. They want to stir up trouble, but they are dealing with a different mentality now. People have no fear of them."
“I have always wanted to talk trash to a grand dragon. It felt good,” said community member Jack Cagle.
The protest is part of the hate group's recent efforts to include anti-immigration positions in its mission. Though the group has long advocated for white supremacy and racial intolerance, experts say that the group wants to capitalize on the recent border crisis. Saturday's protest was one of several events set to be held this summer.
The group appears to be losing support, even in its Southern strongholds. According to the Christian Science Monitor, the number of KKK members nationwide has declined to about 6,000. During the civil rights movement in the 1960s, it had nearly 60,000.

Spotlighting AFA Dark side Of Tupelo, MS.

Spotlighting The Rushdoony AFA Dark Side Of Tupelo, MS,

By Al Bratton Tupelo, Aug. 4, 2014, (323 words),

Source Material From Right Wing Watch
"The American Family Association today is promoting  a 2013 article by research director Ed Vitagliano, who warns that the rise of gay rights in the U.S. 'is a sign of a deep spiritual sickness' and 'a downward death spiral' that will incite divine wrath."
“'[H]omosexuality often becomes the barometer of a culture rotting out from the inside,' Vitagliano writes, lamenting that '[s]traight[ America has embraced homosexuality because straight Americans first embraced the sexual revolution for the satisfaction of their own perverse sexual appetites.'”]
He concludes that pushing gays 'back into the closet (if that were possible)' is not 'enough to forestall judgment,' but that conservatives must go even further in driving out the 'underlying wickedness that permeated the entire culture.”'
"It is sometimes difficult for Christians to comprehend the breathtaking speed with which the gay movement has succeeded in America. While the political movement itself began in 1969, it has only been over the last decade that homosexual activists have seen virtually every one of their dreams come true."

"Yet Scripture is clear that embracing homosexuality is a sign of a deep spiritual sickness. In particular, three important passages warn cultures about taking this step."

"How can a reasonable person do this? How can a society clearly see that humanity is divided into male and female genders, with corresponding, rather than identical, genitalia, and shrug its collective shoulders"?

"Romans 1:18 states that this is done because they' suppress the truth in unrighteousness.'” The Greeks did this. America is on the verge of doing so.

"A downward death spiral results from such suppression. These individuals (and, we must assume, the cultures such individuals create) sink into further darkness and eventually (unless God intervenes) become hardened and blinded to the truth."

"In Jude 7 the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah is made even more explicit: The inhabitants 'indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh,' and what could be stranger than men fornicating with other men?)"

"But the Genesis account takes note of the utter depravity of these particular homosexual men, for it was the violence of their predatory behavior that seems most abhorrent in the passage. They literally threatened to have forcible homosexual intercourse with Lot’s visitors – i.e., to rape his guests." (323)

AFA's Sandy Rios Suggests Treating Refugee Kids Like Lepers, Warns They Will Cause Death 'In Huge Numbers' | Right Wing Watch

Letter T Joe Rutherford, Tupelo Daily Journal
By Al Bratton, 8-02-14. (200 words)

Tupelo's  "'Dark Side 'American Family Association Hostile to Child Migrants" (OverBlown Fears About Disease...)--AB

"On her American Family Radio program this morning, Sandy Rios [a self-proclaimed Christian] joined fellow anti-immigrant activists in spreading overblown fears about diseases being carried by the Central American refugees at the southern border."
"Rios suggested that the child refugees should be quarantined like lepers used to be. 'I think of biblical times, the lepers were separated — right or wrong — they were separated,' she said. 'It was understood that leprosy was so contagious. So there’s nothing wrong with wanting to separate your children. We used to quarantine people when they had diseases'”
“'We’re such a healthy people that we’ve forgotten what it’s like to be diseased and die from those diseases in huge numbers,” she said, “but we’re going to learn, I think, again.'”
She went on to lament that the children are being transported in the 'same planes that you and I fly in.'”
“'How do we know about lice and disease before they get on public transportation?'” she added.

Tim Wilmon Daily Journal Letter: Political Correctness Undermines Values...

Tim Wildmon Daily Journal Letter: Political Correctness Undermines Values...

http://djournal.com/opinion/tim-wildmon-political-correctness-undermines-values-patriotism/

Human Rights Violator, Bigot, and  AFA  President Tim Wildmon, representing The “Dark Side” Of Tupelo, MS, decided on July 27, 2014, he had every reason to slam Gay Football Star Michael Sam in his personal column because, for one reason, he Is allowed to do his little “dirty hate work” through the Tupelo Mississippi Daily Journal uncensored and supported by the Editor of course, and others.
Wildmon’s post is as follows:
“The politically correct or ‘progressive’ crowd found a new target this week. When asked about ‘[Out and Proud]’ football player Michael Sam, former NFL coach Tony Dungy said he would not have drafted Sam had he still been coaching. Said Dungy: “I wouldn’t have [drafted] him. Not because I don’t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it. It’s not going to be totally smooth … things will happen.”
“‘For this comment, ESPN commentator Keith Olbermann named Dungy the ‘Worst Person in the World’ on Monday night. Condemnations of Dungy came from all over.’”
“This is where the ‘progressive’ movement is. If you hold a view that is not in agreement with theirs, you are to be demonized by them, the progressives, who, ironically, don’t believe in demons. Why do they do this? It’s because they, the progressives, consider themselves morally superior to [ “those of us who hold traditional values “Is Bigotry aimed at your fellow man, Wildmon, because he has a different sexual lifestyle than you, against ‘traditional values’ or are your ‘traditional values’  a national scam? ] “even though, again, ironically, progressives don’t believe in moral values unless they define them. They moralize against those who promote morality.” [And of course, you,Tim are a ,promoter, of morality’ and a pure hypocrite to boot].
“The progressive movement is out to destroy our country as it has existed. It is against patriotism. It is against religion in general and is in particular hostile to evangelical Christianity and traditional Catholicism. It is against borders. It is against capitalism. It is for high taxation and government control and regulation of almost everything. It wants people depending on government so they can be controlled. It believes government debt is good. It is against our Bill of Rights, in particular the First and Second Amendments. It is for abortion on demand even through nine months of pregnancy. It wants to downgrade the American military. It rejects the idea that Western Civilization is superior to other civilizations. And it most certainly is for promoting the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender movement and punishing people who dare speak against it. Basically, what I have just described is the platform of the modern day Democratic Party and the philosophy/agenda of much of the New York/Washington, D.C., liberal media, Hollywood and most university campuses. When Barack Obama said he wanted to ‘fundamentally transform’ America, what he was saying to his fellow hardcore progressives was: ‘I’ve got the wrecking-ball ready.’”
“Sexually, God made man for woman and woman for man. It’s obvious. It’s natural. Progressives can’t stand this. So they are always trying to equate homosexuality with heterosexuality or elevate homosexuality over [above] heterosexuality. When someone like Dungy makes a comment that can in any way been seen as challenging this narrative then that person must be immediately discredited or publicly shamed no matter the truth of what he is saying.”
[ Wildmon forgot to mention the fact that God also made lesbian/gay women for lesbian/ gay women. If he doesn’t believe that, how can he  possibly believe God made him to be the only true straight man on earth--the other Adam yet to be mentioned in the Biblical Scriptures. As for Tony Dungy, Wildmon has no idea what he was really trying to say about Michael Sams, he decided he would offer-up his opinion, regardless, and in the Tupelo Mississipppi Daily Journal where fact checking is unknown when it comes to their Pious & Good Community Columnist, Tim Wildmon!]
Wildmon: “By the way, having been a sports reporter for a few years I’ve been in many football locker rooms where the players walk around naked or half-naked, changing clothes and going in and out of the showers. Putting a man like Sam, who says he is sexually attracted to men, in with all that “beefcake” [a common gay term used to describe sexually attractive macho men and boys]  seems unfair to the straight players and a distraction to Sam. Would you put a heterosexual man in the locker room/showers with all the female cheerleaders? Would you tell the girl cheerleaders who objected to this man being in the locker room that they needed to end their bigoted and sexist attitude and treat the man with respect?
[You would need to ask the female cheerleaders that question, don’t you think, Pious Tim.]
“Tony Dungy will probably survive being the ‘worst person in the world.’ But the fact that he is in the crosshairs of the PC Gestapo over this comment is chilling to free speech and free thinking. It’s ironic that the people who now scream the loudest about tolerance have become the least tolerant among us.”--Tim Wildmon. 7-27-14. (885 +- words)

How Conservative Evangelicals Went From Not Caring About Abortion......

Slate: Contraception: How conservative evangelicals went from not caring about abortion and birth control to being obsessed with them.

What does the Bible say about abortion?

Exodus 21: 22-24 ERV : 22 “Two men might be fighting and hurt a pregnant woman. This might make the woman give birth to her baby before its time. If the woman was not hurt badly,[e] the man who hurt her must pay a fine. The woman’s husband will decide how much the man must pay. The judges will help the man decide how much the fine will be. 23 But if the woman was hurt badly, then the man who hurt her must be punished. The punishment must fit the crime. You must trade one life for another life. 24 You must trade an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot, 25 a burn for a burn, a bruise for a bruise, a cut for a cut.

In its challenge to the “contraception mandate” of the Affordable Care Act, Hobby Lobby claims that certain forms of birth control—Plan B, “ella,” and IUDs—induce abortion and therefore go against the owners’ religious beliefs. The government’s response is that none of these contraceptives ends a pregnancy. Rather, they prevent implantation in the uterine lining.

Barefoot and Pregnant: The Supreme Court and the War on Women | Rev. Dr. Susan Brooks Thistlethwaite

"There really is a war on women, and recently the U.S. Supreme Court has made the conduct of that war even easier. Due to majority decisions by this court, women are now more vulnerable in their physical persons and in their ability to plan their economic lives.

This is a war because war involves both physical injury as well as economic deprivation."--Dr. Thistlethwaite

TIM WILDMON: One schools graduation behavior was out of line at ceremony | Daily Journal

ABratt's  Open Letter Spotlighting AFA's Tim Wildmon /"Dark Side" Of Tupelo, MS An Otherwise "All American City."

AFA's Self Anointed Family Values Man has nothing but sarcasm to offer Daily Journal Readers in his article describing his opinions of the activities of a Mississippi School Graduation Program. Of course, you have to remember that Wildmon is a devout Christian Fundamentalist who, no doubt, would prefer students to be home-schooled any day rather than be enrolled in public schools where secularism is the guiding light to an enlightened mind--one that thus far, has eluded him through the years of forced fundie ignorance of the world (climate change denial, evolution) two perfect examples of scientific denial by American (Christian-Right) Fundie Extremists. Climate Change is man-made, God certainly never caused it  no more than He brought on the Great Deluge  that is similarly, historically described as happening in a multitude of areas across the world.Myths of the Ages.

***************************
Wildmon:'My lovely and talented wife Alison and I went to a high school graduation recently here in north Mississippi. We went to see a friend’s daughter get her diploma. And if this particular graduation exercise was any indication of how things are at other high schools, the rules of etiquette regarding behavior at graduations have changed radically since my year, 1981. Now, there are no rules...."

Wildmon Article Excerpt:..."Maybe in a few years another community columnist in the Journal will write something like this: “I went to a high school graduation ceremony the other day and one student did a backflip across the stage to receive his diploma. Another did a Michael Jackson tribute with a "Moonwalk" One family all rang cowbells for their graduate and yet another family ran through a banner like cheerleaders before a football game to honor their graduate. It was quite a change from my day. Back in 2014[?]all you could do is scream, holler and shake your [groove thing.] Now artificial noisemakers are the norm.”

ABratt: "Shake your Groove thing" why, I'm shocked nearly out of my skin on this Sabbath Day to see a depiction of a human's rear-end spelled out for all to see in a column written by the most sanctimonious Christian Fundie on the whole earth--Tim Wildmon! Beyond comprehension, I might add. And that's not all, people. A few weeks back Joe Rutherford, DJ Editor,  edited out my "Rat's Patootee" line from a Letter to the Editor I had mailed him for publication to the DJ. And, now, today I could have sworn "Shake Your Groove Thing" was by far the worst comment that could be printed for the eyes of Joe's readers, but not so,"Rat's Patootee" according to Joe's assessment is worse. It just goes to show the Journal Community that I'm not one of Joe's favorite letter submitters. And that, well-----I'm lost for words... until the next time I submit a public letter to the WWW.

Raymond Settle VA Crisis --Who Tried To Prevent The Crisis, Who Stood in Their Way! | Anthony W. Orlando

Raymond Settle Daily Journal Letter To Editor,Veterans Admin. Scandal 5-27-14:

"Monday was Memorial Day. We can only remember and appreciate those who have passed on but there is another group that we can show our appreciation for – living veterans. They especially need our support as we learn more about the Veterans Administration scandal."
"These veterans were promised medical care and they have earned it with their sacrifices for us. However, that has turned out to be a broken promise for many of them. Candidate Obama promised in August 2007, 'Caring for those who serve and for their families is a fundamental responsibility of the commander-in-chief. … It’s time for comprehensive reform. When I am President, building a 21st century VA to serve our veterans will be an equal priority to building a 21st century military to fight our wars.'”--Raymond Settle
"Six years later President Obama reported, 'And today I can report, we are not where we need to be, but we are making progress. After years when the backlog kept growing, finally the backlog is shrinking.'”--Obama
Raymond Settle: Now we know how that backlog was shrinking. Those who could not be seen within the required 14 days for new patients or 30 days for returning patients had their names moved from the main list to hidden lists to give the appearance the hospital was meeting the goals. Some of those veterans o n the hidden lists have been waiting over a year to see a doctor. Some names were removed from the lists without receiving care after a year. Even worse we know some veterans died waiting on the medical care they were entitled to. We provide much better care for the terrorists at Guantanamo Bay than we do for our veterans. The ratio of terrorists to healthcare providers is 1.5 – 1 with no waiting while the ratio for veterans hospitals is 35 – 1. This situation is beyond inexcusable, it is [criminal.]Raymond Settle, Emphasis ABratt's
I suggest the best tribute we can pay to our dead veterans is demand our promise be kept to our living veterans. No more excuses. It is a matter of honor for each of us. The veterans have done their part and it is our responsibility to fulfill our commitments to them.
Raymond Settle

Linda Bilmes and Joseph Stiglitz predicted the VA scandal.
Back in 2008, the eminent researchers -- one a professor at the Harvard Kennedy School, the other a Nobel laureate in economics -- published a book called The Three Trillion Dollar War, where they argued that most Americans were drastically underestimating the cost of the Iraq War. They didn't specifically describe the events that have unfolded in recent weeks, but they did point out the enormous burden that would be placed on the VA system as veterans returned from Iraq -- a burden that we were not preparing for.
And that was before the surge in Afghanistan.
Upon taking the oath of office, Barack Obama tripled U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan, sending over 60,000 troops into combat. Only now, five years later, have troop levels reverted to the level they were at when he took office. So you can add 60,000 troops for five years on top of the costs projected by Bilmes and Stiglitz -- projections that were verified and replicated by the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, as well as Nobel laureate Lawrence Klein, the father of modern economic forecasting.
And yet, Congress refused to boost the VA budget.
For years, discretionary funding for the VA health care system had been growing at approximately 6 percent per year, slightly less than health care costs for the average American family, making it the most cost-efficient system in the country. Meanwhile, it ranked at the top of quality rankings, better than all its private competitors, year after year. It was the best medical care system in America.
That is, until the troops came home.
"Republicans beat back a Democratic attempt to provide almost $2 billion in additional health care funding for veterans," reported the Washington Post in 2005, "rejecting claims that Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals are in crisis."
The following year, Bilmes told ABC News, "In 2004, the VA had a backlog of 400,000 cases. Last year it was 500,000 cases. Now the backlog is 600,000 cases. That's just in two years. And the big wave of returning Iraqi veterans has not even hit yet."
And yet, the VA budget kept growing by 6 percent per year, as if the war didn't exist at all.
As if that wasn't a big enough problem... "Proposed cuts in Department of Veterans Affairs spending on major construction and non-recurring maintenance threaten to derail efforts to update the department's aging infrastructure," reported theWashington Post in 2012. And so, Democratic Senator Patty Murray led the charge to boost the VA's construction funding, only to have it beat down by Republicans.
Later that year, Paul Ryan, the Republican chair of the House Budget Committee, released the party's annual budget proposal. Had it become law, the VA would've sustained billions of dollars in budget cuts, forcing smaller facilities to shut down in rural areas.
So it wasn't surprising to Senator Murray when allegations surfaced of VA hospitals lying about the number of veterans on their waiting lists because they didn't want the world to know that they were unable to give their patients lifesaving treatments. "In an environment where everybody is told, 'Keep the cost down. Don't tell me anything costs more.' -- it creates a culture out there for people to cook the books,"she said in a recent interview.
Who would've ever thought, after years of relentless cost-cutting in the halls of Washington, that the federal government actually spends our money on important stuff? Who would've thought that wars cost money, and tax cuts cost money, and maintaining our infrastructure costs money? Not the Republicans, that's for sure. While the Bush administration plunged us into two wars and cut taxes on the rich, who were already taking a bigger piece of the pie than they had since the Roaring Twenties, Republicans in Congress were blocking every Democratic attempt to give the VA the funding they needed to give our veterans the medical care they were promised. And then, when the Obama administration tried to correct this funding crisis, Republicans responded by proposing deeper spending cuts.
Let this be a warning to every politician and every voter who thinks we can cut our way to prosperity: Those dollar figures represent real services that the government provides to real people. Every cut has a cost, and not just in money. In lives.

An Unpublished Letter To Editor J. Rutherford, Daily Journal: AFA Warns 'Homosexual Aggression' Has Banned Christians From '7 Common Careers'

Original Post By Miranda Blue, RWW, 4-23-14

Re-posted to ABratt's Liberal Tupelo, MS Blog by ABratt, Fri. May 30, 2014.

In a fund raising email today, American Family Association president Tim Wildmon warns that the list of careers that Christians can hold in America “is quickly shrinking as homosexuals pro-actively seek opportunities to wreck the personal business and career of any Christian who declines to support the gay lifestyle.”
The email lists “7 common careers Christians may no longer hold in America,” which it says includes photography, broadcasting and teaching. Wildmon cites a few cases in which business owners have been sued for refusing to provide services to gay people and have sought broad exemptions from anti-discrimination laws that apply to businesses operating in the public square. He also cites the case of Craig James, who was hired by a regional Fox Sports network before being fired by the national network, which he claimed was because of his “personal religious beliefs.” Wildmon claims that James, who has since been hired by the Family Research Council , is a martyr who has been banned from broadcasting thanks to “homosexual aggression.”
[As usual, the Daily Journal Columnist, Tim Liar, Liar Pants On Fire Wildmon, deliberately refuses to print the whole, staring-in-your-face truth when he submits his Community Column To Editor Joe Rutherford for publication every other Sunday in the year:]
 Tim Wildmon:
"7common careers Christians may no longer hold in America" [this statement by Wildmon comes without any reference to the fact that at least 4 of these "faith-based" businesses operated in states where anti-discrimination laws against GLBT people were in effect at the time these Christian business people were busy refusing services to members of the GLBT Community. aka, another case of ignoring the law to further harass a minority group of American Citizens. Wildmon fibs on a regular basis in his Tupelo Daily Journal Column. Editor Rutherford is his long- time friend and colludes with him to hide the true facts in Journal posts he has control over.]
April 23, 2014 Wildmon:
"Many Christians choose self-employed careers because they want to be able to run their business according to the dictates of their faith and conscience.
That list is quickly shrinking as homosexuals pro-actively seek opportunities to wreck the personal business and career of any Christian who declines to support the gay lifestyle.
Don't be fooled. This is a focused effort to ostracize and humiliate faith-based businesses and their owners. Here are a few recent examples:"
  • Photography - A Christian photographer in New Mexico was fined $6700 for politely declining to photograph a lesbian commitment ceremony. The Supreme Court allowed this fine to stand.
  • Baker - A Christian baker in Oregon is facing both civil and criminal penalties, including jail time, for politely declining to bake a cake for a gay wedding ceremony. Her business has closed.
  • Florist - Baronelle Stutzman, a Christian florist in Washington, is being sued by the state attorney general for politely declining to prepare an arrangement for a gay wedding ceremony.
  • Broadcasting - Craig James was fired by Fox Sports Southwest after only one day on the job for expressing his support for natural marriage while he was a candidate for the United States Senate.
  • Counseling - Jennifer Keeton was dismissed from the counseling program at Augusta State University for her religious reservations about the homosexual lifestyle.
  • Innkeeping - The Wildflower Inn in Vermont was fined $30,000 and forced to shut down its wedding reception business after politely declining to host a lesbian ceremony.
  • Teaching - Ms. Gillian John-Charles was kicked out of a doctoral program in education at Roosevelt University for expressing in class her belief that homosexuals aren't born gay."

Miller: Mississippi's Non-Discrimination Sticker Campaign Is Anti-Christian | Right Wing Watch

There is absolutely nothing that the American Family Association (AFA) Homoboogers on the "Dark Side" of Tupelo, MS Won't Dream Up in their continual efforts to bash the LGBT community, all in the "Name Of God" and "Tax-Exempt" to boot! However, I predict this one will backfire on them bigtime as they are slowly but surely losing their war against tax-paying American Citizens.--ABratt, Tupelo, MS citizen.

Far-Out Religious Right Comes Out of a Crazy Mold

"Far-Out Religious Right Comes Out of a Crazy Mold"--Excerpt From Article By James Haught,Secular Web. by ABratt, 5-26-2014.
"Think not that I come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." -- Jesus, to his Disciples (Matthew 10:34)
[...]
The Religious Right:
America [...] has a fundamentalist mass movement with a violent fringe attached. Television evangelists and their political organizations -- the Christian Coalition, the Christian Action Network, etc. -- endlessly call abortion murder and portray clinic doctors as monsters. Yet they deny any responsibility for the True Believers who take their words at face value, and resort to guns.
"America is more pious than other advanced democracies, and suffers a high rate of religious ferment. Currently, the so-called Christian Right, allied to the Republican Party, is gaining ground for its political goals. It seeks to impose religion in public schools, ostracize homosexuals, censor movies and magazines, increase executions, revoke women's right to choose abortion, curb sex education, cut welfare for the poor, stop teaching of evolution, provide tax money to church schools, end public funding of arts, allow carrying of pistols, reduce day-care centers, amend the constitution to require a balanced budget, etc. To call this agenda 'Christian' seems bizarre." (100)
"The Republican-fundamentalist alliance also is embarrassed by the goofiness of some leaders. TV minister Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Coalition, has declared that his prayers can deflect hurricanes, that he is 'God's prophet,' and that the European Community may signal the coming of 'the Antichrist.' In his nutty book, The New World Order, Robertson said a conspiracy by the Illuminati secret society and Jewish international bankers causes most wars and other horrors. He said American presidents unwittingly serve 'a tightly knit cabal whose goal is nothing less than a new order for the human race under the domination of Lucifer."' (100)
 The Gun Cults:
"Vaguely allied to the Religious Right is America's zoo of armed, white, hate groups: self-styled 'militias,' the 'Christian Identity' movement, neo-Nazis, Posse Comitatus, white supremacists, the Church of Jesus Christ Christian Aryan Nations, skinheads, the Cosmotheist Church, the Covenant, Order and Sword of the Lord, the White Aryan Resistance, the Christian Patriots Defense League, etc."
"Leaders of these outfits tend to be born-again ministers or gun dealers, or both. They preach pure paranoia: that U.S. officials are conspiring to disarm 'patriots' and allow the United Nations to suck America into a 'new world order' -- that Los Angeles street gangs are being trained to seize guns from American homes -- that government black helicopters stalk 'patriots' by night -- that secret prison camps have been built to hold the 'patriots.'"
"In my state of West Virginia, one militia leader, the Rev. Ervin 'Butch' Paugh, solemnly told news reporters: 'The U.N. forces worldwide are going to be the powers that help enforce the Antichrist's dictates."'
"Researcher Philip Weiss wrote: 'There is a religious component to the hard-bitten right. Dan Fuller, a retired crop duster who last year joined a 'Christian covenant community' in Idaho, glimpses signs of the 'mark of the beast' from Revelations in government fiscal policy. He shares a widespread fear among Christian patriots that bodily implanted microchips will replace cash, ultimately spelling slavery for ordinary Americans. Vicki and Randall Weaver had visions of an apocalypse brought on by a Babylonian Federal Government, or ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government)."
"The Weavers were white supremacists involved in a government siege, in which Vicki and a son were killed. They've become martyrs of the militia movement -- as have the armed cultists who died in David Koresh's Waco compound."
"Out of these right-to-bear-arms fever swamps came the plotters responsible for the Oklahoma City tragedy. The stew of guns and crackpot beliefs simmered until it produced horror."

Text Book War:
"Among America's various zealotries, the one I know personally is bound-for-glory mountain fundamentalism. As editor of West Virginia's largest newspaper, I'm a seasoned observer of the Bible Belt, with its serpent-handling churches, talking-in-tongues congregations, money-grubbing evangelists, 'holy rollers,' and all the rest."
"I've seen how easy it is for religious agitation to turn violent -- as it did in The Great West Virginia Textbook War of the 1970s. It began when evangelists denounced sex education in the public school system based in Charleston. (The same ministers sought a return of the death penalty in West Virginia.) Rallies were held against 'pornography' in the classroom. A preacher's wife called sex education a 'humanistic, atheistic attack on God.' She became the movement's candidate for school board, and won in a flood of religious votes."
"As a board member, she advocated Bibles for students and expulsion of pregnant girls. Then she started a wildfire by proclaiming the school system's textbooks 'godless.' A committee of 27 born-again clergymen called the texts 'immoral and indecent.' (Rascals like me hunted for indecency in the books, but found only ordinary school topics.)"
"More than 1,000 protesters surrounded the school board office. A group called Christian American Parents picketed for removal of the books. Evangelists urged 'true Christians' to keep their children out of school. Attendance fell 20 percent. One minister, the Rev. Marvin Horan, led a rally of 2,000 irate Christians. Mobs surrounded schools and blockaded school bus garages. Teachers were threatened. So were families who didn't join the boycott."
"About 3,500 coal miners went on strike against the texts, and picketed Charleston industries. Flying rocks, screams and danger were constant. Frightened people began carrying pistols. During confrontations at picketing sites, two people were shot and wounded, and one was savagely beaten."
"Several ministers were jailed for inciting violence. One of them prayed for God to kill school board members who had chosen the books. A grade school was hit by a Molotov cocktail. Five bullets hit a school bus. A dynamite blast damaged another grade school. A bigger blast damaged the school central office. Near-riot conditions continued. Robert Dornan of California, a pornography foe, addressed 3,000 book protesters in Charleston, and the national exposure boosted his ascent to Congress."
"Minister Horan and three of his followers were indicted for the bombings. Ku Klux Klansmen held a Charleston rally to support them. During the trial in 1975, other followers said Horan had led the dynamite plot, telling them there was 'a time to kill.' They said the plotters talked of wiring dynamite caps into the gas tanks of cars in which families were driving their children to school during the boycott. All four defendants went to federal prison."
"Nobody was killed in the textbook war, luckily -- but it was a vivid demonstration of how baseless religious accusations can bring mayhem."

GOP Senators Urge Harry Reid To Bring Up Abortion Bill

GOP Senators Urge Harry Reid To Bring Up Abortion Bill

"Apparently, these GOP leaders are slow to learn their lesson. The vast majority of Americans support the reproductive rights and legal abortion. Voters in this country are looking for leaders who expand freedom, opportunity, and respect personal decision making for all Americans, not restrict them. This ban on abortions is not only blatantly unconstitutional, but it has been beaten when put to the test at the ballot box. That's because once people learn that these procedures are exceedingly rare and represent the most complicated cases of severe anomalies and threats to health and life of the pregnant woman, the vast majority agree these decisions are not well suited for blanket legislation and meddling from politicians who cannot know the details of each case."

GOP Candidate Says Christians Must Pull Their Kids Out Of 'Godless' Public Schools

"A South Carolina candidate for lieutenant governor thinks Christian parents should pull their children out of the 'godless' and 'pagan' public school system." [I dare say that Christianity could not have ever existed had it not been for the Christianity founders borrowing rather heavily from "Paganism." Christianity is black-marked with hypocrisy from its very inception and continues to wear that crown today.-- ABratt]

Addressing a crowd at an April 12 rally in Charleston, Republican E. Ray Moore said Christians currently face a culture war caused by the non-religious teachings of public schools.

Mississippi Anti-Abortion Law Has Nothing To Do With Women’s Health

"On April 28th, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals will hear a case that could determine the future of legal abortion in Mississippi. At issue is a bill that requires doctors at Jackson Women's Health Organization (JWHO), the state's sole abortion clinic, to have admitting privileges at an area hospital."

My favorite comments:

(1) "First, let's be honest here. Mississippi will NEVER EVER be an abortion-free state That is a totally phony premise. It may be free of safe and legal abortion, but it surely won't be abortion-free [...]

Second, I think back to the 1980s when Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and the rest of the monied faux religious men were in our faces about this and other issues. My mother, brilliant woman that she is, told me in one sentence all you need to know about the anti-abortion cause. No matter the words coming from their mouths, what they are saying is, "You're a bad bad bad girl!!" That's it. Simple as that. You're a bad girl for having sex. You're a bad girl for thinking it's not the best time/place for you to be a mother, etc, etc. Bottom line is, you're just bad. You're a girl. That's bad."

"Women don't happily trot on down to the abortion clinic on a whim. It's a devastating decision. It's miserable. Then, we somehow have accepted the shaming factor where we keep it a secret. No one can know how bad we were. No one can know how we wrestled with this decision and did what we thought best for the future child and its mother. Once again, we're just bad bad bad girls."

"One only need look at who sponsors these laws to see the true agenda. There are always radical christian fundamentalists [aka, In Mississippi, they go by the Name: "American Family Association" ]      who have a certain view about the role of women. They can't [according to the way Congress is presently structured] go for the big prize, which would be to completely outlaw all abortion, so they nibble around the edges."

Cottonmouth: Mississippians Have Health Insurance; Republicans Upset

Republicans Claim They Want To Repeal Obama Care!

"...Thousands of Mississippians now have private health insurance plans - including yours truly - and our state's Republican leaders still think this is a bad idea. Take, for instance, career-long government employee and Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Tupelo Miss):

“This is yet another desperate attempt by the administration to persuade young people to enroll in the president’s unaffordable, unworkable, and unpopular policy,” Wicker said in a statement. “Rather than spending an inordinate amount of time and taxpayer dollars to roll out celebrity endorsements and slick advertisements, the president should work with Republicans to find real market-driven solutions to America’s health care crisis.”-- Cotton Mouth Blog.Mississippi
